John L. Barnes is the current Assistant City Attorney for the City of Three Rivers and has been since 1990. He has worked for townships, villages and other municipal governement agencies over the years.

Personal
John L. Barnes is a very active member of the Three Rivers area Community. He is involved with the Kalamazoo Pipe Band (Scottish drummer), Chairman of the Fabius Township Wetland & Environmental Protection Committee. A member or Three Rivers Rotary. Heading the 2008 Annual 487th Bomb Group Reunion in memory of his father, an original WWII veteran of the 487th B-17 Bomb Squad. An event that will be held in Kalamazoo, Michigan this July and entertaining members from across the United States and Europe.
John and his wife have raised their family in the Three Rivers community and enjoy participating in a number of various community services and charities.
John L. Barnes has received the Probate and Estate Planning Program Certification which is co-sponsored by the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is currently working on his Family Law Certification which is also through the State Bar of Michigan and Continuing Legal Education.
